Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hydrometallurgical Engineer to lead our complex mineral processing operations in Mbalmaya. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize hydrometallurgical flowsheets to maximize metal recovery rates.
  • Oversee the operation of leaching, purification, and electrowinning circuits.
  • Conduct detailed mass and energy balance calculations for process optimization.
  • Manage chemical reagent consumption and optimize reagent dosing strategies.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex process deviations and equipment malfunctions.
  • Ensure all metallurgical processes comply with strict environmental and safety regulations.
  • Supervise junior engineers and technicians to ensure operational excellence.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of hydrometallurgical process modeling and simulation.
  • Expertise in solvent extraction (SX) and electrowinning (EW) technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex metallurgical data.
  • Proficiency in metallurgical software and process control systems.
  • Excellent project management and leadership capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of mineral chemistry and thermodynamics.

Education

A Master’s Degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background in extractive metallurgy and chemical process design.

Experience

A minimum of 7 years of direct experience in hydrometallurgical plant operations or design is required. Proven experience in a large-scale mining environment is highly preferred.
