Job Overview

The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will lead the assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of credit risk for Ecobank’s corporate portfolio in the Southwest region. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit risk assessments for new and existing corporate borrowers, including financial statement analysis, cash‑flow modeling, and industry risk evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain quantitative risk rating models, stress‑testing frameworks, and early‑warning indicators to proactively identify potential deteriorations.
  • Prepare detailed credit proposals, risk memoranda, and presentation decks for senior credit committees, ensuring clear articulation of risk factors and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor portfolio performance on a continuous basis, flagging non‑performing loans, and recommending corrective actions or restructuring where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with product teams to design credit products that balance profitability with prudent risk management.
  • Ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements, Basel III standards, and Ecobank’s internal risk policies.
  • Mentor junior analysts, providing guidance on analytical techniques, report writing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects aimed at enhancing credit risk analytics, data quality, and reporting automation.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, ratio interpretation, and cash‑flow forecasting.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk modeling, Basel regulations, and local banking legislation.
  • Expertise in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, Python) and advanced Excel modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex risk concepts to senior stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking, problem‑solving orientation, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple credit reviews under tight deadlines.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CERA are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in credit risk analysis within a commercial banking environment, preferably with exposure to corporate lending in emerging markets.
