Job Overview
We are currently hiring in Cameroon for a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our specialized service team in Foumban. This role is critical to ensuring that our clients’ heavy machinery remains operational and efficient in demanding environments. You will be responsible for the diagnostic testing, repair, and preventative maintenance of a wide range of Caterpillar earthmoving and construction equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex diagnostic tests on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems of heavy machinery.
- Execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to minimize equipment downtime for clients.
- Repair and replace worn or broken parts in engines, transmissions, and undercarriage components.
- Utilize advanced computerized diagnostic tools to identify faults in electronic control modules.
- Maintain detailed service logs and technical reports for every machine serviced.
- Collaborate with the site supervisors to ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed during field operations.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting technical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
- Expertise in using specialized diagnostic software and precision measurement tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities regarding complex mechanical failures.
- Ability to work independently in remote field locations with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
Education
A recognized Vocational Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a closely related field is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation in diesel engine mechanics and hydraulic systems.
Experience
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty construction or mining equipment is required. Previous experience working with Caterpillar or similar high-end industrial machinery is highly preferred. Candidates should be familiar with the specific challenges of operating in West African environmental conditions.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP, depending on technical certifications and previous experience levels. This package is competitive within the local market for specialized technical roles.
