Job Overview

This role is part of Syngenta’s initiative to integrate digital tools and precision agriculture into smallholder farming systems across Cameroon. The Agri-Tech Innovation Specialist will lead the design and implementation of technology-driven solutions to enhance crop yields, reduce environmental impact, and improve farmer livelihoods. The position requires collaboration with local communities, research institutions, and technology partners to create scalable agricultural innovations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy agri-tech tools such as soil sensors, crop monitoring apps, and data analytics platforms.
  • Conduct field trials to test the efficacy of new technologies in diverse agro-ecological zones.
  • Train farmers and agricultural cooperatives on the use of digital tools and sustainable farming practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI and IoT solutions into existing agricultural systems.
  • Collect and analyze agronomic data to optimize technology applications and improve outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in agricultural technology development or implementation.
  • Strong understanding of precision agriculture, IoT devices, or AI-driven farming solutions.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to interpret agronomic data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Fluency in English and French is preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in Agricultural Technology or Data Science are advantageous.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in agricultural technology, rural development, or agri-tech startups.
  • Experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa or similar emerging markets is a plus.

Salary

1,200,000 – 1,800,000 XAF per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
