Job Overview
The International Freight Operations Manager will lead the planning, execution and optimization of freight movements through air, sea and land corridors. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will coordinate cross‑functional teams, manage carrier relationships, and ensure compliance with customs regulations and DHL’s service standards. This role is central to maintaining high levels of operational efficiency, cost control and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end‑to‑end freight operations for international shipments, ensuring on‑time delivery and adherence to service level agreements.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that reduce transit times, lower costs and improve cargo handling efficiency.
- Manage relationships with airlines, ocean carriers, trucking partners and customs brokers to secure optimal rates and capacity.
- Lead a team of freight coordinators, providing coaching, performance feedback and professional development.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time performance, cost per kilogram and incident rates, and generate regular reports for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with local and international customs regulations, hazardous material handling guidelines and DHL’s safety protocols.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve client issues, negotiate service contracts and identify new business opportunities.
- Implement digital tools and automation solutions to streamline documentation, tracking and invoicing processes.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of international freight regulations, Incoterms and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in logistics management software (e.g., SAP TM, DHL Resilience360) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
- Effective leadership and team‑building skills, capable of motivating diverse staff.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills in both English and French.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Trade or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified International Freight Forwarder (CIFF) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in international freight forwarding, logistics operations or supply chain management, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be included.
