Job Overview

The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of a major construction initiative in Maroua, from initial design coordination through to commissioning and handover. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of the construction project, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and client expectations.
• Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans, and continuously track performance against these baselines.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, procurement specialists, and on‑site supervisors, fostering collaboration and clear communication.
• Manage relationships with local government agencies, ensuring all permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements are secured and maintained.
• Implement rigorous health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, conducting regular audits and promoting a culture of zero incidents.
• Oversee quality assurance processes, conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with international construction standards.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting risks, mitigation strategies, and key milestones.
• Drive cost‑optimization initiatives, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best‑value outcomes without compromising quality.

Required Skills

• Proven expertise in managing large‑scale construction projects, preferably in the African context.
• Strong command of project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and BIM tools.
• Exceptional negotiation, stakeholder management, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Deep understanding of local construction codes, labor regulations, and environmental standards.
• Fluent in French and English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
• Leadership style that inspires teams, promotes accountability, and drives performance.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is mandatory. Candidates holding a Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or a recognized construction safety credential will be given priority.

Experience

Applicants must possess a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in construction project management, with at least three years in a senior leadership role on infrastructure projects exceeding $20 million in value. Experience working in Cameroon or neighboring West‑Central African markets is highly desirable.
