Job Overview

The Solar Power Plant Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of a 50 MW solar photovoltaic facility located near Bamenda. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will ensure optimal plant performance, compliance with local regulations, and alignment with Siemens Energy’s standards of safety and reliability. The position involves close collaboration with engineering, maintenance, finance, and community liaison teams to maximize energy output and profitability. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee plant operations, monitoring performance metrics and ensuring a minimum availability of 95%.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and contractors, providing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules in line with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Manage relationships with local utilities, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders to ensure compliance and smooth integration.
  • Analyze production data, identify inefficiencies, and implement optimization initiatives to increase yield.
  • Prepare and present operational reports, KPIs, and financial summaries to senior management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and manage incident investigations.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of solar PV technology, grid integration, and plant performance analytics.
  • Proficiency with SCADA systems, data acquisition tools, and performance monitoring software.
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills in English and French, with the ability to engage local communities.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with a data‑driven approach to operational improvements.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Understanding of Cameroonian energy regulations and environmental standards.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar power plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience working in West‑Central Africa or similar emerging markets is highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from 1,800,000 to 2,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and long‑term incentive plans are also part of the compensation package.
