Job Overview
The Senior Network Optimization Manager will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of MTN Cameroon’s radio access network (RAN) and core network optimization strategies. Reporting to the Head of Network Operations, the role will oversee a multidisciplinary team responsible for ensuring optimal network performance, capacity planning, and quality of service across urban and rural areas. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive network optimization plans aligned with business objectives and market demand.
- Lead performance analysis, drive root‑cause investigations, and implement corrective actions to improve KPIs such as throughput, latency, and drop rates.
- Collaborate with radio planning, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies, including 5G and LTE‑Advanced.
- Manage capacity forecasting, traffic modeling, and spectrum utilization to support sustainable growth.
- Mentor and coach a team of network engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with national telecommunications regulations and MTN Group standards.
- Drive cost‑effective solutions by optimizing network design, vendor contracts, and operational processes.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in RAN and core network optimization, with hands‑on experience in LTE and emerging 5G technologies.
- Strong analytical skills, proficiency in network performance tools, and ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent project management capabilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English and French.
- Leadership experience managing cross‑functional technical teams.
- Proficiency with network simulation software, OSS/BSS platforms, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in network planning, optimization, or performance engineering within a large‑scale telecom environment. Prior experience in a senior managerial role overseeing network optimization projects is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 2,500,000 to 3,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives, health benefits, and retirement contributions.
