Job Overview
AngloGold Ashanti Cameroon is seeking a dedicated Mine Safety Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards in its Ngaoundal operations. This role is pivotal in maintaining a secure working environment, minimizing risks, and fostering a culture of safety across all mining activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement safety protocols aligned with national and international mining regulations.
- Provide training and guidance to mine personnel on safety procedures and emergency response.
- Investigate incidents and non-compliance issues, recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure all legal and environmental compliance requirements are met.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics to senior management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in mining safety compliance or occupational health and safety (OHS) management.
- Strong knowledge of mining regulations, including ISO 45001 and CAMAC (Central African Mining Code).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and data analysis tools.
- Fluency in English and French is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in OHS (e.g., NEBOSH, CMIOSH) is an advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in mining safety compliance, preferably in a similar role.
- Experience working in African mining environments is highly desirable.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
