Job Overview
This role is critical for ensuring Ericsson Cameroon complies with regional and international data protection regulations, including the African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection. The Data Privacy Officer will lead initiatives to safeguard customer, employee, and partner data while fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data privacy policies aligned with GDPR, AU Cybersecurity Convention, and local Cameroonian laws.
- Conduct regular audits to identify vulnerabilities in data handling processes.
- Train employees on data protection best practices and incident response protocols.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and represent Ericsson in cybersecurity forums.
- Monitor emerging threats and recommend advanced encryption or anonymization techniques.
Required Skills
- Expertise in data privacy frameworks (GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in tools like SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and encryption software.
- Fluency in English and French (preferred).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Law, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CISSP) are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years in data protection, cybersecurity compliance, or legal advisory roles. Experience in the telecommunications or IT sector is a plus.
Salary
500,000 – 800,000 XAF per month, commensurate with experience and certifications.
