Job Overview

The Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO) will lead Google’s privacy strategy for Cameroon, overseeing compliance with local regulations, international standards, and internal policies. Reporting directly to the Regional Legal Director, the CDPO will work closely with product, engineering, and security teams to embed privacy by design across all services. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data privacy framework aligned with Cameroonian law and GDPR equivalents.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new products, features, and data processing activities.
• Lead incident response for data breaches, coordinating with security, legal, and communications teams.
• Advise senior leadership on privacy risks, mitigation strategies, and regulatory changes.
• Establish and manage a cross‑functional privacy governance committee.
• Provide training and awareness programs for employees on data protection best practices.
• Collaborate with external regulators, industry groups, and civil society to promote responsible data use.

Required Skills

• Deep expertise in data privacy laws, including Cameroon’s Data Protection Act and international frameworks.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills for translating complex legal concepts to technical audiences.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive policy adoption.
• Familiarity with cloud services, AI ethics, and emerging technologies.

Education

A Master’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or ISO 27701 are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in data privacy, compliance, or information security, with at least five years in a leadership role. Experience within a multinational technology firm or a regulated industry is preferred.

Salary
