We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our growing team in Bamenda. This role is critical in ensuring that our operations and client engagements remain compliant with both local Cameroonian laws and international regulatory frameworks. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal advice to various business units regarding regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including service agreements, NDAs, and vendor contracts.
- Monitor changes in local and international laws that may impact the company’s operations in the region.
- Manage legal disputes and coordinate with external litigation counsel when necessary.
- Ensure all corporate filings and statutory requirements are met in a timely manner.
- Conduct internal legal audits to identify potential areas of risk and implement mitigation strategies.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Cameroonian commercial and corporate law.
- Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills for complex legal documentation.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to interpret intricate regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and French.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
Education
A Master of Laws (LLM) or a professional degree in Law from a recognized university is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of the OHADA legal framework and local business regulations.
Experience
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of post-qualification experience in a corporate legal department or a reputable law firm is required. Proven experience in handling commercial litigation and contract management is highly desirable.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s expertise and experience level.
