Role Overview

The company is recruiting a Regional Business Manager – Industrial Chemicals based in Douala. The main objective of this role is to position the organization as a leading chemical distributor in Cameroon by driving commercial performance, optimizing structure, and building long-term value creation.

The role requires an entrepreneurial mindset focused on growth, profitability, and strategic market expansion within the industrial chemicals sector.


Key Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for designing and managing the optimal commercial structure of the Industrial Chemical Business Unit while ensuring sustainable growth through value creation and strong financial discipline.

A core element of this role is understanding and applying value creation models such as:

Core Responsibilities

Market Strategy & Business Positioning

You will analyze the industrial market structure and decide, in collaboration with the Business Line Director, which segments the company should target. Your role is to transform market presence into measurable value creation through pricing, volume optimization, and financial discipline.

Business Development & Growth

You will build long-term pipelines of opportunities across segments and products, developing structured business plans that include:

  • Sales force structure
  • Customer segmentation strategy
  • Product portfolio development
  • Route-to-market models (ICOTERMS, drop shipment, ex-stock sales)

Customer Portfolio Management

  • Manage and grow customer relationships strategically
  • Monitor financial health of clients (receivables, credit exposure, financial statements)
  • Develop key accounts and multinational client relationships
  • Conduct regular technical and commercial visits to improve share of wallet

Supply Chain & Inventory Control

Ensure alignment of sales forecasts with supply planning through the S&OP cycle, maintaining optimal stock levels and future volume planning.

Financial Performance Management

  • Drive pricing, margins, and revenue targets
  • Analyze P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow of clients and competitors
  • Enforce strict credit control and receivables management
  • Manage rolling forecasts (18 months) and long-term planning (2–3 years)

Team Leadership & Sales Management

  • Define and monitor sales operations and KPIs
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate the sales team
  • Calculate incentives and drive performance accountability
  • Take corrective actions to ensure target achievement

Candidate Profile

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Economics, or related field (MBA is an advantage)
  • Minimum 5+ years in sales management, preferably in industrial chemicals or related sectors (construction, water treatment, agro-processing, etc.)
  • Strong financial literacy (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow analysis)
  • Experience managing sales teams and driving commercial performance
  • Strong understanding of chemical industry players and market dynamics
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong leadership capabilities
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Fluency in French and English is mandatory
