Job Overview

The Pharmacovigilance Lead will spearhead the safety monitoring activities for all Novartis products marketed in Cameroon. Reporting directly to the Regional Safety Director, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive pharmacovigilance system that complies with local regulations and international guidelines. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding patient health, supporting regulatory submissions, and providing actionable safety insights to cross‑functional teams. As part of the broader Novartis network, you will collaborate with global safety experts, local health authorities, and external partners to ensure timely detection, assessment, and communication of adverse events. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the pharmacovigilance system in compliance with Cameroon regulatory requirements and ICH E2E guidelines.
• Collect, assess, and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to the National Agency for Drugs and Food (ANSM) within stipulated timelines.
• Lead signal detection activities, perform risk assessments, and propose risk mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate safety data exchange with global Novartis safety teams and ensure alignment with corporate policies.
• Provide safety expertise to clinical, medical affairs, and commercial teams during product launches and lifecycle management.
• Prepare periodic safety update reports (PSURs) and other regulatory submissions.
• Train internal stakeholders on pharmacovigilance processes and promote a culture of safety across the organization.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and audit trails for internal and external inspections.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of pharmacovigilance regulations in Cameroon and the African region.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex safety data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and French.
• Proficiency in safety databases (e.g., Argus, Arisg) and Microsoft Office suite.
• Leadership abilities to guide cross‑functional teams and manage external vendors.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Education

A Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Pharmacology, or a related scientific discipline is required. Additional certifications in pharmacovigilance or drug safety are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in pharmacovigilance, preferably within a multinational pharmaceutical company. Experience with regulatory submissions in Cameroon or other African markets is an advantage.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus performance‑based incentives.
