Job Overview

The Network Optimization Engineer will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and enhancing the performance of Orange Cameroon’s radio access network (RAN) and core transport infrastructure. Working closely with network planning, operations, and product teams, the engineer will apply advanced analytics, drive optimization projects, and ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) meet or exceed industry standards. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze network performance data using tools such as OSS, KPI dashboards, and drive‑test results to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement optimization strategies for radio, transport, and core network layers, focusing on capacity, coverage, and quality of service.
• Collaborate with the planning team to design network upgrades, new site deployments, and spectrum refarming initiatives.
• Lead cross‑functional projects that involve vendors, field engineers, and product managers to execute optimization plans.
• Monitor and report on KPI trends, providing actionable insights to senior management and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Participate in the rollout of 5G services, including network slicing, edge computing integration, and advanced antenna configurations.
• Maintain documentation of optimization processes, configurations, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
• Support troubleshooting activities by providing expert analysis of network incidents and recommending corrective actions.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R, or MATLAB).
• In‑depth knowledge of LTE/4G and 5G radio technologies, network architecture, and performance metrics.
• Experience with network planning and optimization software such as Atoll, Mentum, or similar platforms.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven mindset.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson) are considered an advantage.

Experience

At least five years of hands‑on experience in network optimization, performance analysis, or a similar role within a telecom operator or a major equipment vendor. Experience with 5G deployments is highly desirable.
