Job Overview
We are currently seeking a highly qualified Epidemiologist for a critical role based in Yaoundé. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement epidemiological surveys, rapid assessments, and active surveillance systems in target regions.
- Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret health data from MSF facilities and community-based surveillance points.
- Provide regular epidemiological reports and briefs to the medical coordination team and external partners to guide decision-making.
- Investigate suspected disease outbreaks and coordinate rapid response measures with local health authorities.
- Train and mentor medical and community health staff on data collection tools, case definitions, and reporting protocols.
- Ensure high data quality and compliance with ethical standards in all research and surveillance activities.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in epidemiological analysis software such as Epi Info, SPSS, Stata, or R.
- Strong understanding of infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and survey methodologies.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable medical strategies.
- Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken, is highly desirable for effective coordination.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing security and environmental conditions.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse multicultural teams.
Education
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related scientific discipline from a recognized institution.
Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in field epidemiology is required, preferably within an international humanitarian organization.
