Job Overview

The Senior Data Science Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts to design and implement advanced analytics solutions that drive business value for IBM’s clients in Cameroon and the region. Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the data science roadmap aligned with IBM’s strategic objectives and client needs.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable machine‑learning models and AI solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including sales, consulting, and engineering to translate business problems into analytical projects.
  • Ensure data governance, security, and compliance with local regulations.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership and key clients.
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and incorporate best practices.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in Python, R, SQL, and big‑data platforms (Spark, Hadoop).
  • Proven experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Strong statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and data visualization skills.
  • Leadership and people‑management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
  • Fluency in English and French.

Education

A Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications in AI, machine learning, or cloud platforms are a plus.

Experience

Minimum of eight years of professional experience in data science, with at least three years in a managerial or lead role overseeing complex analytics projects. Experience in consulting or delivering AI solutions to enterprise clients is highly desirable.

Salary
