Job Overview

The Mining Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of the Bafoussam mining site, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable production. Reporting directly to the Regional Director, you will lead cross‑functional teams, manage budgets, and implement best‑in‑class operational strategies. This position is critical to achieving our production targets, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety and sustainability. Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and haulage, to meet production schedules.
  • Develop and monitor operational budgets, cost control measures, and financial performance indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with Cameroonian mining regulations, environmental standards, and corporate safety policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence frameworks.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department to minimize equipment downtime and optimize asset reliability.
  • Oversee the preparation of operational reports, production forecasts, and performance dashboards for senior management.
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to promote transparent communication and sustainable development.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities with a track record of building high‑performing teams.
  • In‑depth knowledge of underground and open‑pit mining processes and equipment.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan) and data analytics tools.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to make data‑driven decisions under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety culture and environmental stewardship.

Education

A Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, or Certified Mine Manager are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in a multinational mining environment and familiarity with Cameroonian mining legislation are preferred.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and relocation assistance where applicable.
