Job Overview

The Marine Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the technical performance, maintenance, and repair of CMA CGM’s vessels operating out of the Limbe port. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities for vessels docked at Limbe.
• Conduct regular inspections and condition monitoring of propulsion, auxiliary, and auxiliary systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules in line with classification society requirements and CMA CGM’s internal standards.
• Manage technical documentation, including equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and compliance certificates.
• Lead investigations of technical failures, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Collaborate with shore‑based engineering teams to optimize fuel consumption and emissions, supporting the company’s sustainability goals.
• Ensure all engineering work complies with SOLAS, MARPOL, and local maritime regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and training to shipboard engineers and junior shore staff.
• Prepare detailed reports for senior management on vessel performance, maintenance costs, and project status.
• Participate in budgeting and cost‑control activities for engineering projects.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, electrical distribution, and HVAC on board vessels.
• Proficiency in using marine engineering software such as NAPA, Maxsurf, or similar tools.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
• Effective communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in emergency situations.
• Leadership experience with a focus on team development and mentorship.
• Familiarity with international maritime standards and classification societies (e.g., DNV‑GL, ABS).

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as a Marine Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (MECC) or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in marine engineering, preferably on container vessels or bulk carriers. Experience with vessel maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, and project management is essential.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be offered.
