Job Overview

The Telecommunications Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and expanding MTN Cameroon’s radio access network (RAN) across the Bafoussam region and beyond. The role involves detailed planning of new cell sites, capacity forecasting, frequency allocation, and performance analysis to ensure seamless coverage and high‑quality service for customers. Working closely with cross‑functional teams—including RF engineers, project managers, and regulatory affairs—this position will play a pivotal role in delivering robust network solutions that meet both commercial objectives and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed radio network plans, including site selection, antenna configuration, and backhaul requirements.
  • Perform capacity and coverage analysis using industry‑standard tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet, or Mentum).
  • Collaborate with RF, civil, and construction teams to ensure timely deployment of new sites.
  • Coordinate with the regulatory authority for spectrum licensing and compliance.
  • Monitor network performance metrics and propose optimization strategies to improve QoS and QoE.
  • Prepare technical documentation, cost estimates, and project timelines for senior management review.
  • Support the rollout of 5G and advanced LTE‑Advanced features, ensuring alignment with MTN’s strategic roadmap.
  • Participate in field trials, drive tests, and post‑deployment validation activities.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives by recommending energy‑efficient equipment and site designs.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of radio frequency planning, propagation models, and network optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency with planning software such as Atoll, Planet, or similar tools.

Education

Experience
