Job Overview
This role is critical in mitigating the impact of natural and human-induced disasters in Cameroon. The Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist will lead initiatives to assess community vulnerabilities, design risk mitigation strategies, and coordinate emergency preparedness programs. The position is based in Ngaoundal, a region prone to climate-related challenges, and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to global humanitarian efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct community-based disaster risk assessments and vulnerability analyses
- Develop and implement disaster preparedness and response plans
- Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs, and international partners on emergency management
- Train community leaders and first responders in disaster risk reduction techniques
- Monitor and report on disaster trends, climate risks, and community resilience metrics
- Coordinate post-disaster recovery and rehabilitation programs
Required Skills
- Proven experience in disaster risk management or emergency response
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian aid frameworks and protocols
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills
- Ability to work in high-pressure, resource-constrained environments

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field. Advanced certification in emergency management is a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in disaster risk reduction, community resilience projects, or humanitarian aid operations. Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa is preferred.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
