Job Overview

The Cocoa Processing Manager will lead the end‑to‑end operations of the Bafoussam cocoa processing plant. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will be responsible for optimizing production efficiency, ensuring product quality, and maintaining compliance with food safety standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily processing activities, including roasting, grinding, and conching, to achieve target yields and quality specifications.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, lower energy consumption, and increase throughput.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000, and local food safety regulations through rigorous monitoring and documentation.
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and quality analysts, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
  • Coordinate with procurement to secure high‑quality cocoa beans and maintain strong relationships with local farmer cooperatives.
  • Prepare production schedules, monitor key performance indicators, and report operational results to senior management.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations for any product deviations and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Collaborate with R&D to pilot new product formulations and support market‑driven innovation.
  • Maintain equipment reliability by overseeing preventive maintenance programs and managing spare‑part inventories.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of cocoa processing technologies and food safety standards.
  • Proven leadership and team‑building abilities in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret production data and drive data‑based decisions.
  • Effective communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting and resource allocation.

  • Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing execution systems (MES).

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Food Scientist (CFS) or Six Sigma Green Belt are considered an advantage.

Experience

Minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in cocoa processing, chocolate manufacturing, or comparable food processing operations. Prior experience managing a production team of at least 20 staff members and a track record of delivering measurable efficiency gains are essential.

Salary
