Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Renewable Energy Engineer to spearhead our green energy initiatives in the West Region of Cameroon. This role is critical for the design, implementation, and management of large-scale solar and wind energy projects aimed at stabilizing the local grid and providing sustainable power to industrial hubs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and technical design to commissioning and operational handover. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and engineering of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive site assessments and energy yield simulations to optimize plant performance.
  • Manage the procurement of high-efficiency energy components and oversee vendor quality control.
  • Coordinate with local regulatory bodies to ensure all installations comply with Cameroon’s energy laws.
  • Supervise on-site construction teams and ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Develop detailed technical reports and financial models to justify project scalability.
  • Implement smart grid technologies to improve energy distribution and reduce transmission losses.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in PVSyst, AutoCAD, and ETAP software for energy modeling.
  • Deep understanding of inverter technology, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid synchronization.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French to facilitate stakeholder engagement.
  • Advanced analytical skills for troubleshooting complex electrical faults in renewable systems.

Education

The candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related field from a recognized international university. Specialized certifications in Solar Energy Design or Wind Turbine Engineering are highly desirable.

Experience

A minimum of 8 to 12 years of professional experience in the energy sector is required. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of delivering at least three large-scale renewable energy projects from inception to completion.
