Job Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our growing diagnostic facility in Bamenda. This role is critical to our operations, as you will be responsible for performing a wide range of clinical tests that assist doctors in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating various medical conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized clinical laboratory tests including hematology, biochemistry, and immunology.
- Calibrate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
- Collect, process, and prepare biological specimens for analysis following strict safety protocols.
- Validate and record test results accurately within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Monitor quality control parameters and implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Maintain a sterile and organized laboratory environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely delivery of critical results.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in operating automated clinical chemistry and hematology analyzers.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and biohazard handling.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in sample processing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment and results.
- Excellent communication skills for reporting findings to senior pathologists.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure clinical environment.
Education
Candidates must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or a closely related field from a recognized institution. Professional certification or registration with the relevant national health council is highly preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required. Proven experience with automated diagnostic systems and quality management systems (ISO 15189) is a significant advantage. We value candidates who have worked in multi-disciplinary hospital settings.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP, depending on experience, qualifications, and performance during the probationary period.
