Job Overview
Deque Systems Cameroon is seeking a passionate Digital Accessibility Consultant to join its growing team in Ngaoundéré. This role will focus on evaluating, auditing, and enhancing the accessibility of digital platforms to ensure compliance with global standards while promoting inclusive design principles. The ideal candidate will collaborate with developers, designers, and stakeholders to implement accessibility best practices across websites, mobile apps, and digital content.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of web and mobile applications using tools like WAVE, AXE, and JAWS.
- Develop and implement remediation plans to address accessibility gaps in digital products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Provide training and guidance on accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, Section 508) to developers and designers.
- Stay updated on emerging accessibility technologies and regulatory changes in Cameroon and globally.
- Produce detailed reports and documentation for clients and internal stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in digital accessibility consulting (3+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1, ARIA, and other accessibility standards.
- Proficiency in using accessibility testing tools (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, WAVE).
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for accessibility remediation.
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical requirements into actionable solutions.
- Ability to work independently and in team environments across time zones.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications such as CPwD (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility) or G360 (Global Accessibility Certification) are a plus.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years in digital accessibility consulting, software development, or UX/UI design with a focus on inclusive design.
Salary
5,000,000 – 7,000,000 XAF annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
