Job Overview

This role leads the planning, execution, and monitoring of rural electrification initiatives in northern Cameroon. The position requires strategic coordination with local governments, NGOs, and energy stakeholders to deploy decentralized renewable energy systems. Candidates will drive community engagement, ensure project compliance with international sustainability standards, and optimize energy access for remote populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement rural electrification projects using solar, microgrid, and hybrid energy technologies.
  • Collaborate with Cameroonian authorities to secure permits and align projects with national energy policies.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams including engineers, local contractors, and community representatives.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments for new project sites.
  • Monitor energy usage patterns and optimize system performance for long-term sustainability.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in renewable energy project management (solar/wind/microgrid).
  • Strong understanding of rural development challenges and community engagement strategies.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., HOMER, PVsyst) and project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).
  • Fluency in French and English; knowledge of local languages (Pidgin, Fulani) is an asset.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills for multi-stakeholder environments.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. A Master’s in Energy Policy or Sustainable Development is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years in project management or renewable energy implementation, with at least 2 years in rural electrification or off-grid energy solutions.

Salary

1,200,000 – 1,800,000 XAF per month, commensurate with experience and project impact.
